Healthy People - Happy Nations that Prosper

Obesity rates have reached epidemic proportions. There is no one magic solution to the obesity epidemic. However, many small steps can be taken to make a difference. Creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to be healthy and prosper is a key step in the right direction.

The calorie system and the number of servings are not working. The world is not getting healthier, quite the opposite is happening. People are gradually getting fatter and sicker. The proof is in the pudding, or this case the expanding waistlines.

Let's Get Rightsized™

National Resources Can Help us Get Rightsized™!

Many countries today suffer from a growing obesity epidemic, and with it come illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. While the root cause of this problem is complex and multi-faceted, one major contributing factor is how our society is structured. In particular, how we work, live, and play has a big impact on our health and well-being.

Obesity in the US is a good example. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than one-third of American adults are obese. This number has been on the rise for the past two decades, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. the number of overweight and obese children has also increased dramatically over the past few years.

From our perspective, nations are failing because they are focusing on the wrong problem. Yes, the types of food we consume impact our health. But the complex system of calories and serving sizes that don't mean anything to the majority of consumers leave us confused. The amount of resources that are spent on identifying the serving size on every package is wasted since no one pays attention to it.

A package of chips will state 8 serving sizes but once you open the bag you keep reaching until you feel the bottom. A bottle of soda will state 2 and a half serving sizes, but people will consume the entire bottle in one sitting. And a single serving of soda plus a single serving of cheeseburger and a single serving of french fries amount to a serving that should sustain us for a day or two but is marketed as a happy meal. If you eat these "one meal-sized" meals daily long-term it will make you very unhappy.

Nations need to re-evaluate the effectiveness of their initiatives to help people Get Rightsized™. This is a global issue that affects all people, so a more concerted and collaborative effort is needed. All individuals, no matter what size they are, need to be able to live their lives in a way that supports their health and well-being.

We need a system to guide us that will enable even a small child to implement. The Get Rightsized™ system is a such system. When embraced by nations it will revolutionize how we eat and save huge resources for any nation. We don't see calories we see the volume of food. We make the decision based on the volume of food that fills us. When our stomachs along with our perception was expanded we have to have tools that get us back on track.

One of the main reasons for this increase is our sedentary lifestyle. We are a society that is increasingly reliant on technology, and this has led to us being more inactive than ever before. According to the CDC, only about one in four adults get the recommended amount of physical activity each week.

In addition to being more inactive, we are also eating more unhealthy foods than ever before. A large portion of the American diet is now made up of processed foods that are high in calories, fat, and sugar. They're also low in nutrients. This combination of factors can lead to weight gain and obesity. You can lose weight even if you do eat these foods by Getting the Rightsized™ portion.

The nations need to provide their people with tools that work. Provide them with easy-to-understand and implement tools that will help them Get Rightsized™. The nations can start by fighting false advertising claims. The media and corporations need to be responsible and accountable for false advertising and misrepresentations just to make a buck. A cereal box showing a 4-cup bowl on the box cover and listing 3/4 cup as serving size is misleading the consumer and needs to be stopped. we will make an effort to shed light on these companies and you will make them accountable when you avoid their products.

We need trust built between government, corporations, businesses and academia, and us. When that trust is breached we need to inform ourselves and reduce its impact by spending our money wisely.

Making these changes won't be easy. But if we don't make them, the obesity epidemic will only get worse. And that would be bad for our health, our economy, and our country. The good news is that there are things we can do to reverse the trend of rising obesity rates. We can make changes in our lifestyle and diet to promote health and wellness. We can also work to create a society that is more supportive of healthy living.

By making these changes, we can create a nation of healthy people who lead prosperous lives. Let's Get Rightsized™!
